By trading thickness for extra length, these latest ROCKET WING MIDLENGTH boards now offer better balance and better glide in light winds. The improved volume distribution—especially in the nose—provides greater stability, while the more rounded bottom at the front enhances glide, hence leading to smoother take-offs and touchdowns.
Thanks to a slightly wider tail, stability is preserved while the slim outline and parallel rails promote glide and speed during take-off. The step on the bottom near the tail creates a clean break to channel the water flow at the back without generating excessive drag when in motion. The removal of the central step on the bottom, previously in front of the twin-tracks, makes the board compatible with Foil Drives.
MIDLENGTH REDESIGN
The overall redesign of the board sheds volume from each board size compared to the first edition. For example, the former 5’10 MIDLENGTH board is equivalent to a 6’2 in this new range, boasting a volume of 95L compared to 120L for the same size previously.
The new MIDLENGTH continues to shine in light winds, but many riders will appreciate it in a variety of conditions as these boards don’t feel cumbersome thanks to their narrow width. The reduced width also makes it much easier to carve and lay into turns. These can now be used as SUPs as well by advanced riders looking for agile shapes in waves or short period downwinders.
